Tan Oak Urn with Elk and Mountain Scene (AA03)

$295.00

Tan Oak is a very unique and beautiful wood.  The trees only grow in Oregon and Northern California.  The Native American’s used this species of oak to extract the tannins used for tanning hides.  Colors can are typically tan to dark brown and the figure is typical of most oak species. This Urn is carved from this prized wood.  We personally recover most of our Tan Oak trees from logging sites where the trees were being sent to chip mills.  The areas that the trees are removed from are replanted with new trees making this a very eco-friendly and sustainable wood.  All of our urns are hand sanded to 2000 grit creating the fine surface for finishing.  We apply multi coats of food grade walnut oil by hand to bring out the natural beauty and luster of this wood.  Up to 50 coats of French polish finish is then applied to protect your urn. The final step is buffing with Gilboy’s beeswax imported from England.

We hope this urn helps to bring closure to you and your family.  We thank you for allowing one of our handmade urns to be the final resting place and honor to your loved one.

This urn is 9 ½ inches wide and 6 inches deep and 6 ½ inches tall with our carved Mountain scene with an elk on the front.  One of our signature walnut crosses is inlaid in the lid.
