Pistachio and Walnut Pen Blanks 2nd's (AF09)
Pistachio is an exceptional and unique wood for turning pens. The wood is as hard as ebony and is absolutely stunning. We started reclaiming and using Pistachio wood in 2002. The wood has unmatched qualities that will make great acoustic or electric instruments. We personally recover trees that have become unproductive in the orchards of the San Joaquin Valley. When the trees are removed they are replanted with new trees making this a very eco-friendly and sustainable guitar wood. The trunks are small compared to other trees used for making guitars so large pieces are rare. These pen blanks showcases excellent color and contrast. The wood will also change color under a blacklight.
Claro Walnut has long been considered the best of the walnuts for its color and figure. It is just a beautiful wood. We started reclaiming and using Claro Walnut wood in 1970’s. The wood has unmatched qualities that will make great acoustic or electric instruments. We personally recover trees that have become unproductive in the orchards of the San Joaquin Valley. When a tree becomes unproductive it is removed and a young tree is replanted making this Walnut a very eco-friendly and sustainable guitar wood. The trunks range in size from small to large. These trees have a Claro Walnut rootstock and is grafted to an English Walnut fruiting wood. The graft ling between the two varieties can be very unique.
There are thirty one Pistachio and six Walnut pieces and twenty Walnut pieces with a minimum of 0.83 to maximum 0.95 x 5 1/2". These are seconds. All blanks are usable, but may require some CA glue. They are too nice not to be used.
