Claro Walnut Urn with Western Roundup Theme (AA09)
Claro Walnut has long been considered the finest of the walnuts for building very high end furniture. It is a beautiful wood with color variations from black to dark browns to greens with very good figure. We started reclaiming and using Claro Walnut wood in 1970’s. The wood has unmatched qualities that will make great acoustic or electric instruments. We personally recover trees that have become unproductive in the orchards of the San Joaquin Valley. When a tree becomes unproductive it is removed and a young tree is replanted making this Walnut a very eco-friendly and sustainable wood. The trunks range in size from small to large. These trees have a Claro Walnut rootstock and is grafted to an English Walnut fruiting wood. The graft ling between the two varieties can be very unique. All of our urns are hand sanded to 2000 grit creating the fine surface for finishing. We apply multi coats of food grade oil by hand to bring out the natural beauty and luster of this wood. The final step is hand buffing with Gilboy’s beeswax imported from England.
