Myrtle Solid Body Guitar (GF97)

$199.00

Myrtle is not only a beautiful wood for luthiers to use in building acoustic guitars and ukuleles it has a tone that enhances the sound of a solid body guitar.  Originally Myrtle is used for back and sides or as the soundboard matched with back, and sides sets in acoustic sets. This is why it can enhance the sound on an eclectic instrument.  We recover our Myrtle on the Southern Oregon Coast where the variety of soil types can add color to your guitar.  The wood has unmatched qualities, easy workability, and sustained tap tones. We personally recover most of our trees from logging site where the trees were being sent to chip mills.  The areas that the trees are removed from are replanted with new trees making this a very eco-friendly and sustainable guitar wood.  The cool wet air of the Oregon Coast makes the perfect environment for slow consistent growth of acoustic instrument quality wood.  We air dry our Myrtle wood for at least three years.

All of instrument wood is sanded and we never use a planner as it will compress the wood fiber affecting the sound quality.

There two pieces 1.82 x 7 1/2 x 21 1/2".  Weight on this set is 11.41 grams per cubic inch.

Photos are taken two ways.  The first to show what the finished instrument will look like and dry to show what the wood will look like when it arrives.
